Honest review about Kiehl’s creamy eye treatment with avocado

Since I’ve started using eye cream (years ago, after hearing that it was best to start at about 18 to prevent premature aging around the eyes), it’s something I couldn’t go one day without. Find me weird, but there’s nothing better than the feeling of an hydrated and fresh under eye!

With this, I’ve tried several eye creams and eventually found the one that worked best for me: Kiehl’s creamy eye treatment with avocado. Texture, fragrance, efficacy… here’s why I particularly love it!

The texture

The cream is rather thick (in a good way), light green and contains a visible dash of oil which can sometimes come up to the surface. It feels rather cold when putting it on, which is a great feeling under the eyes.

I personally love this texture as it give me the impression that it’s rich enough to deeply hydrate my skin. However, there is one thing that I noticed; because there’s a bit of oil in the cream, it can feel like the cream and oil are separating when applying it on the skin. This never bothered me as it did not make the application harder nor the product less effective, but it’s only fair for me to share.

The packaging

The packaging, a white pot, is simple and practical. There’s nothing groundbreaking about it, but it works. I personally don’t mind putting my (clean) finger in it to take a reasonable amount of cream – if anything, I actually like this “basic” way of doing, as my ring finger is the perfect under eye cream applicator!

This being said, if I was being picky and compared it to other products that come with some sort of applicator or dispenser, I would say that this one is less sanitary.

The fragrance

If there’s one thing I appreciate, it’s when cosmetics products aren’t fragrant – it’s simply a personal preference. And unless you really put your nose in to sniff the product, which would result in a very subtle avocado scent, this eye cream doesn’t smell.

The efficacy

Here comes the most important part. How effective is this avocado eye cream? Well, out of all the creams I’ve tried, this is by far my favourite!

Whilst the rich texture obviously plays a major role in how hydrated my under eyes are after using the cream (leaving them soooo smooth), I also love how it instantly brightens my dark circles. I guess that the light green color of the cream is what helps in toning down any redness or darkness and the oily texture is what attracts the light and brightens the skin.

By now, you’ll have understood that I truly love this cream! But in case you’re scared about its thickness and slight oiliness, let me reassure you by saying that it perfectly penetrates into the skin, leaving it hydrated, smoothed and brightened.
