Effortlessly chic: the ultimate spring capsule wardrobe guide

Spring is finally here, which means it’s time to prepare outfits for warmer weather! And what better way to do that than with a spring capsule wardrobe? To help you build the perfect spring capsule wardrobe, I’ve selected must-have pieces that: 1. will take you from the early days of spring to the warmer days ahead, and 2. that you can keep and easily re-wear these upcoming years.

Whilst most pieces are versatile and timeless for you to mix and match and create countless outfits, I’ve also picked “trendier” items so that you feel up-to-date with the latest spring 2023 trends. What they all have in common though? These pieces are practical and comfortable, making them perfect for any occasion.

Outerwear

Between the trench coat, quilted jacket and denim jacket, we’re talking classics. However, you can always pick a new shape or colour, and that’s what we’re doing today!

Tops

This is probably the trickiest selection because as much as I’m craving cute cut-out tops, I still consider spring being cold. And I hate being cold. So, here’s to various options that are not completely basic, but not too revealing. Cheers to textures, asymmetry and a pop of color!

Long-sleeves

We’re staying basic in this section, but with a twist. Look at these cuts! This is what makes your tops special. These are easy to wear over and over again thanks to neutral tones and shapes that can be dressed up and down. Bonus point: you won’t be cold in these!

Shirts

Here, I picked a selection of neutral and colourful denim, cotton, crinkled and satin shirts that are perfect for spring. Wear these like a classic shirt, tie with a knot or use them as a layer on a strappy top.

Sleeveless top

We all need shorter, cuter tops that we can wear day to night when styled properly. For a day look: add a cardigan, blazer or jacket on top to make these less revealing. For the evening: simply remove the layers and switch shoes to a heel for an even more elevated look. When it comes to bottoms, you can really wear these with anything but something too short – you don’t want it to be too much.

Blazers

From wool to linen and from long to short, materials and cuts are also something I love playing with when picking blazers. Because spring isn’t always the warmest season, I wanted to give you options and selected all kinds of blazers so you’re covered whatever the weather and occasion.

Cardigan

Some hate these because it’s too “grandma” style for them. I say, this is the perfect solution to stay warm in-between seasons. And styled on a modern outfit (denim jeans and a cute top, a long dress with boots, …) you’ll shouldn’t be afraid to look older than you are – and even if, who cares as long as you’re warm?! 😉

Bottoms

Denim jeans

When it comes to jeans, straight leg cut is the way to go “trend-wise” at the moment, and I’m here for it. This being said, I recently found a pair that I absolutely love (and bought): slim-fit mom jeans – the black pair linked below. I just love the way it looks on my body!

Wide leg trousers

Playing with textures is one of my favourite things when it comes to picking seasonal items! And when I think about spring trousers, I envision linen. Indeed, it gives a lighter aspect to the trousers and is effectively more breathable and less warm than regular wide leg trousers materials.

Skirts

For a long time, I couldn’t picture myself wearing a long skirt – just because I didn’t feel I could pull it out. But since I saw the long denim skirt, I’m loving it and ready to give it a try. So this selection included my beloved mini skirts and longer versions that are in this season.

Dresses

I’m a sucker for slip dresses, no matter the season. The good thing is that these are rather seasonless. Despite that, I managed to find alternatives that are perfect for this spring: long, halter neck, colourful, … You pick your jam! For a casual everyday style, pair your dress with boots or sneakers. Elevate with heeled boots or stilletos for the evening.

Accessories

If you’ve carefully looked at my selection, most items are in neutral colors – the reason why? It makes them versatile and timeless. But, when it comes to accessories, that’s where I like to spice it up! From trendy colors to original shapes, here’s my spring selection.

Bags

I know I went hard on Chanel bags, but I just love how these specific materials shout spring. Other than these, I found cool and more affordable options that are either neutrals and timeless, or in fresh spring tones to add a pop of colour to your fits!

Sunnies

If you ever feel lazy, wear all black or all white (I’d say white for spring), and pick cool, special sunnies. Your outfit will undeniably rock!

Shoes

I find it amazing how shoes can change an entire outfit – I could write a whole article about this! If you want to go for laid-back vibes, pick sneakers. If you feel like an elevated yet casual look, pick heeled boots. If you want to feel more girly, go with a pointed flat. If you want to feel extra, wear low or high stiletto heels.
